Live Review: The Globe & Cherry Red Xmas Extravaganza @ The Globe, Brisbane
Featuring Beatronica, river.stone.haze, The Boydettes & Howling Rabbits
Though many partysoul set foot on Brisbane's party-territory The Valley this past Saturday,
only a lucky few witnessed headliner Beatronica perform at The Globe Theatre's
“Xmas Extravaganza” benefit night.
Opening act “Howling Rabbits” proved to be a feast for ears and eyes. Catchy riffs,
psychedelicious soundscapes, hypnotising drumbeats and a charismatic frontman
made for an airtight set, mindblowing from end to end.
Seeing “The Boydettes” felt like watching your friends’ first band: “It'll be a very long way
to the top if you want to rock & roll.”
Frenzied, solid rocktunes filled the theatre when River.Stone.Haze entered the stage.
Bands like Incubus, Kings of Leon, Disturbed and others came to mind with every note played.
By the time Beatronica hit the stage, only a handful stuck around to see the main act.
Their musical tools produced a mesmerizing stream of notes, fronted by an elegant Mars Girl.
But the band looked a bit turned off by the absence of crowd and though the songs were tight,
the performance wasn't.
